At Heyrod, we take Health and Safety seriously. This means that all our staff are kept fully trained and given the appropriate guidance. That we keep ourselves updated with all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and have a close working relationship with the Health and Safety Executive.

We are a Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS) accredited business and the Board and Senior Management are committed to achieve ISO 18001 accreditation by August 2007 in line with our overall ISO Quality Management Strategy.

The need to stick to the company’s overall Health and Safety obligations is outlined in our Quality Management System and in our Health and Safety Policy. These documents make staff induction on the subject obligatory, and this is delivered by our external consultant, Britannia MCD.

On many projects, we are required to be Principal Contractor under CDM regulations. Here, we work with the appointed planning supervisor to create a safe working environment for all concerned.

We also operate a generic safety strategy, from which we develop a detailed Project Health and Safety Plan. This includes site- and task-specific safety requirements, with our teams inducted by the site Project Manager before we start work. Finally, random external audits supplement the project-management team’s Health and Safety checks.
